The vision for New Life Family Church began in the winter of 1981. It started with the gifts of the Spirit moving in our home one night. I was already called into the ministry at the time and had been pastoring a small Baptist church for one year. On this night the Lord confirmed his will through the gift of tongues and interpretation between my wife and I. At that time we knew that God wanted us to start a church in Tallahassee!
After several weeks, people started to come! Within a month, we began to have parking problems along the road in front of our own house! We had been looking for a place to have church, but were unsuccessful. I remember one morning receiving a call from one of the city commissioners, who told me that we could no longer park cars in front of our house. He gave us a two-week deadline. At the end of that two weeks, the Lord showed us a business building. |

Caleta and I drove by and saw a man scrapping letters off one of the windows. Caleta remarked that the building looked like a church. We stopped and found out that a church had just moved out of that building. It was a big step of faith for us. The rent was $500 per month with a six-month lease. We had only enough money at the time for the first month. We did not know if we would be able to meet this payment each month, but we signed the lease trusting that God would bless us, and He did! We were in that building for approximately three and a half years, and never missed a single payment! (Praise God!) We even rented additional space!

After three and a half years, we moved to the Capital Cinemas on North Monroe Street. We stayed there for approximately a year and a half. During this time, we acquired some land on Hartsfield Road. This was a miracle in itself! The lady who owned the property turned down two other cash offers and financed it for us herself. (Praise God!)
We began to make steps of faith as a church... Plans were drawn up for our new building... We then went to the bank to ask for money to build it. This was the biggest miracle! God had a placed a gentleman in this particular bank who we found favor with. Right after were approved for the loan, the gentleman left the bank.
In 1986 we began building. It was hard work and everyone in the church was pulling together. We finished the church in approximately eight months and moved in! The church body grew as we became more established in the local community. |

A notable milestone in the church was our starting of the television ministry in the mid 90's! The devil had actually tried to stop this ministry from its very inception, but to no avail! Shortly after we had purchased all of our equipment, a man actually stole it from the church. The Lord, however, had just sent us a new member experienced in TV production, and helped us raise funds to replace and recover everything we lost, without us ever missing a show! Praise God! Our show now goes around the entire US via satellite and in other countries! |

As a part of the vision of New Life, on June 19, 1997 we officially changed our name from "New Life Family Church"
-- we are now "New Life Church
International." Even though our name has changed, we are still a family church, but our goals have now increased! We are no longer looking just at our community, but we are reaching out to the world! We are non-denominational, multi-racial church with an increasing international vision. Come join us as a partner today! |
